Funny, I am on Google Street View

3 month ago I twitted

Funny, I am outside the office waiting for colleagues to go to lunch and a google car just passed by. I might be on google street soon!

Last week during my holiday, my colleague Rolf sent an email to inform me that finally Street View was available in Switzerland and that I could be seen in front of the office of Innoveo Solutions. You can even see the grey and blue logo of Innoveo Solutions on the right part of the picture.

Set default printer per network on Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 the day after it was released on MSDN. I am discovering daily new things that improve my productivity and I am really delighted about it.

Today I was back to work at Innoveo Solutions and adding the HP Color Laserjet 5500 printer was just so easy but the best was that we can now manage default printers per network. At home I have a HP Laserjet 4000 that is set as my default printer when I connect my notebook to my home LAN. When I connect to the Innoveo Solutions LAN my default printer is set automatically to the HP Color Laserjet 5500 printer. It might be a detail, but in the past it happened several time, doing home office and printing on the office printer when I wanted to print on the home printer.

With Windows 7 it is really easy to configure, click on the Start button then Devices and Printers, you will get to that dialog:

Click on the Manage default printers and you will get a second dialog in which you can click Change my default printer when I change networks and configure which printer belongs to which network:

Simple and easy.

How to connect to SQL Azure

From Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (tips from the SQL Azure — Getting Started forum, this post) :

Please be aware that SSMS is not supported with SQL Azure yet. However, you can use the following workaround for the time being:

1. Click Cancel in Connect to Server Dialog
2. Click New Query which will bring up the new connection dialog.
3. Enter your credentials. By default, you will connect to Master database. If you want to connect to specific database, click options and enter the database name. Please be aware that USE <database> is not supported.
4. Now click Connect and you will get an error "Unable to apply connection settings. The detailed error message is: ‘ANSI_NULLS’ is not a recognized SET option. "
5. Click Ok.

After this step, you should be connected to the desired database and you can start running queries.
Thanks,
Abi

Here are the information you need to enter into Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. You will get those from

You will get this error message, just click OK

According to Stan Kitsis – MSFT (MSFT, Moderator) (link):

I'm not aware of a way to get around this message.  We are planning to enable support for SET ANSI_NULLS in the next service update so hopefully the experience will be better.

I also tried to run aspnet_regsql.exe without any success, there are still lots of features which seems to be not supported at the moment.
