One more step to Tech Head Brothers 1.1

I worked a lot, tests and develoment, today to be able to have my site running with .NET Framework 1.1. Basically it is working now but I am still having some issue with DTS to update my PROD database with the data from my TEST Database. Sometimes it fails copying datas from 6 tables sometimes from 5. Really strange. I can't get it. If someone as a step by step dumb way to transfert data from two SQL Servers 2000, I would appreciate.

I also updated the way we work with my brother on VSS. Now we use Draco.NET to be informed of the update of the other and to be sure to constently integrate without any issue. This tools rocks, whenever you can configure it.

Going forward on Tech Head Brothers 1.1

After some work I ported my portal to version 1.1 of the .NET Framework. The only change related to the update of the frameework was due to XSLT and the usage of a deprecated method. Cool.

I also added some new functionnalities like RSS feed for Articles, How Tos and News. Thanks to the RSS library from AdamKinney. There are also new features from the administration side like the possibilities to post news from an InfoPath form.

Now it is time for testing before going live with it.

Working on version 1.1 of Tech Head Brothers portal

I am currently working on a new version of my site: Tech Head Brothers. This new version will use the .NET Framework 1.1. I am facing some difficulties because I had hardcoded some stuff in the code before. I know thats BAD, really BAD. But sometimes when you don't have that much time you do ugly things.

I also installed all the environment that will let my brother work with me. Windows 2003 Server with VPN, VSS... We gave a try on GotDotNet workspace but that was not as good as we thought in our case, so we will retry later.

Got it to work !!! :-)

Now I got a real place where I can post! Christophe contact me if you wanna know where it is ;-)

So today I attended an interesting presentation "WEB290: Web service discovery: Are we meant for each other?". Thats was not really anything new for me cause I am in charge of evaluating and implementing UDDI solution for the company I work for. But a really good presentation. It will really simplify the life of our infrastructure team.

I will also attend the "WEB312: Integrating Applications with UDDI Services" later on.

At least a wireless connection :-)

After two days without any connection I finally found the right place to get a connection for more then 15 minutes. I will hopefully be able to post some remarks on the sessions and pictures. Stay tuned!

First day at Tech Ed 2003

It is really really warm here!!!

The trip was good and the organization here is awesome except for the wifi connection, it doesn't work at all. You get a connection for 30 seconds and then nothing. I could find another place where I get connected for 10 minutes but there is no power supply.
