Windows 7, Disk is offline because it has a signature collision

When I switched on today my second hard drive I had the following issue displayed

The disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk that is online

Running Diskpart as administrator proved that it was the issue

As you can see disk 2 and disk 4 both have the 00024A91 signature hence the collision.

Following the advise here, I changed the signature of the drive decreasing from 1 unit.

Than I brought back the disk online using Disk Management

4483885215_d8941f5c7f_o[1]

And everything went back to normal

Thank you so much for this I was tearing my hair out as I couldn't see why my 2 new drives wouldn't work at the same time! Smile

Thanks this worked fine.
Run into the issue after separating disks that were in RAID1.

I had the problem because I restored the same Win7 image in 2 HDDs ,I believe that somehow the image copies also the signature from the older hard disk. After your instructions everything works fine.THANKS

Windows is stupid. Booted Linux live CD, it worked fine! Thanks for your fix. I'll test the same drives in Win8 when I get a chance see if they fixed it there.
